Regarding steroids

A 32 year old male is admitted in hospital being managed as a case of exacerbation of asthma. Consultant ordered Inj  Hydrocortisone (solucortef) 100mg 6 hourly. Nurse comes to you saying that pharmacy is short of Hydrocortisone but instead  has Dexamethasone. What will be the approximate equivalent dose of dexamethasone for 100 mg hydrocortisone?

A) 100 mg
B) 2mg
C)8mg
D)4mg
E)50mg

:P, I know.. again back,, after a long time, well i was busy with my FCPS exam, cleared it Alhamdulillah in my first attempt...

it was a good experience... though they tested quite haphazard stuff..

Books i used for preparation.. i cleared it in medicine though..

Kaplan Physiology
Kaplan Anatomy ( For embryology, gross anatomy, histology and neuroanatomy plus physiology)
BRS Pathology
Snell RV for Anatomy
First AID..

Study time. 3 months 3 hrs a day, 2 months five hours a day,, last month 8 hours a day..

i was on job all the time, except for the last month of course..
It's pretty Do-Able.. :)
